Random Nails of the Day!

Alrighty, these aren't particularly interesting, but they've been in my unpublished pictures folder forever and I really need to upload them so that they are not there anymore.

And yes, I know it's been forever. I will try to take some eyeshadow picture! It's summer, so I have no excuse. And I do have ideas...Stay posted, please! In the meantime, suffer through this filler post.

The base color for this is L'Oreal's Precious Coral. It's a very red orange. It's not my favorite color, but I'm sure it works for some people. As yo might be able to see, it's not super bright, but it's not a burnt orange either. It's a creme and applies pretty evenly. The color that I put on top is one coat of 9.0.2.1.Orange. Awful name, very sheer color, nice layering color. It's kind of a glass fleck, very similar to Zoya's Tanzy, I believe.

This is Sinful Color's Minted. These were stamped using Konad-like plates. The color was a Chameleon color, don't remember what it is because I don't own it anymore. Chameleon is supposed to be all duochromes, I think, but this color was just really frosty. Don't recommend. They have other good colors, though. And it worked fine for stamping.

Another stamping color! The base color is China Glaze Emerald Fitzgerald. And then just a white Konad nail polish and a nail plate. Gorgeous.

Yes, there's writing on my hand. The base color for this...Just a creme black, I think. Wet 'n Wild. Their black is actually pretty good. And the color that I used over it is that orange Wet 'n Wild color from above. The one with the awful name. I just did layers of it. It's sheer enough that it worked well.

I wore these when I was doing a recital and singing as Elphaba from Wicked. And no, I did not sound good--I wasn't a belter at all. But anyway, she's green, so I wanted to wear green. I just used tape to get the sharp lines. The base color is Emerald Fitzgerald by China Glaze again. And I think that the shimmer is 9.0.2.1.Orange again.

Wet 'n Wild Blue Wants To Be A Millionaire

A sparse, sheer light blue holographic nail polish. You can vaguely see my nail line, even though this is probably about four coats. fortunately, the nail polish is pretty watery, so it's easy to get thin, even coats. And the more coats, the more intense holo. The holo is very gritty, kind of like sand. It's not a bad nail polish, but it's not top notch.

 Zoya Kimmy.

Beautiful color. It's a bright saturated red with lots of golden flecks. You only need about two coats of this one. Looks great on the nails, looks great on the toes, very flattering. I don't even know what else to say about it. Totally recommend.

 Zoya Cassie.

Warm, medium pink. It has a very subtle glass fleck type of thing to it, but it's not shiny. Even when I apply topcoat it's pretty dull. I personally don't love this color, but it's not bad either. It's pretty thick, only needs a few coats, but it can get kind of gloppy. Just make sure you have a super-shiny topcoat to make it look it's best.

Okay, hope that you like some of these, and that this post wasn't totally annoying. NOTD posts are kind of boring, so maybe I won't do anymore. I just needed to get these out. I really want this blog to be mostly eye posts, because that's what I like the best. Feel free to request those!

China Glaze Phat Santa

China Glaze Phat Santa from the 2010 'Tis the Season to be Naughty and Nice collection.

So, I believe that this was 3 coats; this color is more sheer than you would think that it is. It's almost a jelly, but not quite, and it only really seems like one just because it takes more coats to be opaque than you would think.  It's a medium-deep red with brown tones to it. Definitely more of a winter color, and little more color accurate to the lower picture.  It's relatively shiny on it's own, but as always, wear a top coat!

Ultimately... I don't like this polish that much. It's not as opaque as it should be, it's a wee bit watery, and I honestly always think that the color is going to be less brown than it actually is when I put it on. But if that's your type of red, then go for it.

What's your favorite red creme? Blue-based, orange-based, bright, dusty, etc?

China Glaze Harvest Moon

China Glaze Harvest Moon from the 2012 Hunger Games Capitol Colors Collection.

Wow. This color is like MAC Amber Lights Eyeshadow in a bottle.  It is a very bronze foil with yellow, gold and orange tones to it as well.  One of the standouts from the collection.  Since it's called Harvest Moon, I think that it's from district 11, the agriculture district. Sound right? This is two coats of polish, and it's perfectly opaque at that. Very pigmented, very beautiful. Not much else to say.

Have you seen The Hunger Games movie yet? (I haven't.)

China Glaze Instant Chemistry

China Glaze Instant Chemistry from the 2012 Magnetix Magnetic nail polish collection.

This color has the least contrast between the magnetic and not magnetic part. Even less so than in the picture.  The dark color is very dark and a little frosty; almost exactly the same as OPI Lincoln Park at Midnight.  Then there is a lighter magenta color.  I don't think that it's bad that this color has less contrast, but dark colors aren't really my thing.  Though, because it's dark, it's completely opaque in one coat, which is what I have here. I think it's a good polish if you like darks and want to try this trend.

Although, don't try layering magnetics with sparkles.  They look stupid.  And you can't even see the pattern anymore. So it's really stupid.

Would you wear it?

China Glaze Pull Me Close

China Glaze Pull Me Close from the 2012 Magnetix Magnetic nail polish collection.

Okay, I seem to be getting the hang of this a little more. I recommend using the starburst pattern, because it has the ability to be more abstract than the strict geometric lines of the other patterns, so it's more forgiving.  That, and it's a centered pattern, so it works best on my super curved nails.  I like this color as much as Attraction, but I like them in different ways. Both are opaque at one coat, but this one has a cool look to it.  Almost like one of those holographic images that you have as a kid that when you move it changes.  It's kind of like that, and almost has a 3d look to it. It's really cool, and I really like it.

This was kind of a terrible review...

China Glaze Attraction

China Glaze Attraction from the 2012 Magnetix Magnetic nail polish collection.

Magnetic nail polish seems to be the new crackle this year. Except this is so much cooler! Basically, the nail polish has little particles of iron in it that move around when a magnet is placed over it.  This collection has a magnet with the starburst pattern (featured here) as well as diagonal stripes and a chevron pattern.  This color is gorgeous in that is is a dark charcoal with a beautiful silver shimmer and the pattern is a silver .

As for the review, this magnet works pretty quickly, but it doesn't work well for me. I've been experimenting with it, and it seems that my nails are too curved (I have extremely curved nails) to have the pattern anywhere but the middle.  I'm still working with it, but as of now, the design only sort of works. It takes practice, that's for sure.  Luckily, the China Glaze magnetic nail polishes are the most reasonably priced of all of the magnetic polishes that I have seen.  It's priced normally with the normal amount of product. Thumbs up (as seen in photo 3 :).

China Glaze Four Leaf Clover

China Glaze Four Leaf Clover from the Up & Away collection.

Four Leaf Clover.  2 coats. Okay, this color is nearly impossible to photograph.  It's closer to the bottle picture.  It's a blue toned green, kinda a grass green, and amazingly bright.  Almost neon.  It's very opaque and creamy look that softens the bright tones a wee bit.  If you're a green lover, this is a must have.
