Random Nails of the Day!

Alrighty, these aren't particularly interesting, but they've been in my unpublished pictures folder forever and I really need to upload them so that they are not there anymore.

And yes, I know it's been forever. I will try to take some eyeshadow picture! It's summer, so I have no excuse. And I do have ideas...Stay posted, please! In the meantime, suffer through this filler post.

The base color for this is L'Oreal's Precious Coral. It's a very red orange. It's not my favorite color, but I'm sure it works for some people. As yo might be able to see, it's not super bright, but it's not a burnt orange either. It's a creme and applies pretty evenly. The color that I put on top is one coat of 9.0.2.1.Orange. Awful name, very sheer color, nice layering color. It's kind of a glass fleck, very similar to Zoya's Tanzy, I believe.

This is Sinful Color's Minted. These were stamped using Konad-like plates. The color was a Chameleon color, don't remember what it is because I don't own it anymore. Chameleon is supposed to be all duochromes, I think, but this color was just really frosty. Don't recommend. They have other good colors, though. And it worked fine for stamping.

Another stamping color! The base color is China Glaze Emerald Fitzgerald. And then just a white Konad nail polish and a nail plate. Gorgeous.

Yes, there's writing on my hand. The base color for this...Just a creme black, I think. Wet 'n Wild. Their black is actually pretty good. And the color that I used over it is that orange Wet 'n Wild color from above. The one with the awful name. I just did layers of it. It's sheer enough that it worked well.

I wore these when I was doing a recital and singing as Elphaba from Wicked. And no, I did not sound good--I wasn't a belter at all. But anyway, she's green, so I wanted to wear green. I just used tape to get the sharp lines. The base color is Emerald Fitzgerald by China Glaze again. And I think that the shimmer is 9.0.2.1.Orange again.

Wet 'n Wild Blue Wants To Be A Millionaire

A sparse, sheer light blue holographic nail polish. You can vaguely see my nail line, even though this is probably about four coats. fortunately, the nail polish is pretty watery, so it's easy to get thin, even coats. And the more coats, the more intense holo. The holo is very gritty, kind of like sand. It's not a bad nail polish, but it's not top notch.

 Zoya Kimmy.

Beautiful color. It's a bright saturated red with lots of golden flecks. You only need about two coats of this one. Looks great on the nails, looks great on the toes, very flattering. I don't even know what else to say about it. Totally recommend.

 Zoya Cassie.

Warm, medium pink. It has a very subtle glass fleck type of thing to it, but it's not shiny. Even when I apply topcoat it's pretty dull. I personally don't love this color, but it's not bad either. It's pretty thick, only needs a few coats, but it can get kind of gloppy. Just make sure you have a super-shiny topcoat to make it look it's best.

Okay, hope that you like some of these, and that this post wasn't totally annoying. NOTD posts are kind of boring, so maybe I won't do anymore. I just needed to get these out. I really want this blog to be mostly eye posts, because that's what I like the best. Feel free to request those!

Zoya Kissy

Zoya Kissy from the 2011-2012 Gems and Jewels collection.

Zoya Kissy, 3-4 coats.  I love this nail polish. It's a magenta-red bar glitter with a sprinkling of holographic bar glitters in it. I think that I also saw little red microglitter too. This nail polish is pretty shiny on it's own, but it needs a good two coats of top coat to make it smooth.  This is an absolutely gorgeous nail polish, and though it's a little sheer, I think that it's great, and it's really unique too.

Do you like bar glitters?

Zoya Gemma

Zoya Gemma from the 2011 Intimate Collection.

Zoya Gemma, 2 or 3 coats... Don't really remember.  It's more of an army green base, like in the top picture, and it has a purple-blue shimmer that you can barely see in the bottom picture.  This color really looks dull without a topcoat, even though the shimmer is visible in pretty much all lighting, so be sure to use a very shiny top coat.  The formula is pretty good, and though the first coat looked pretty sheer, it built up nicely.

Do you like army greens, or other typically 'ugly' colors?

Zoya Crystal

Zoya Crystal from the Fire and Ice collection.

(With flash)

(Artificial light)

Zoya Crystal, 3 coats.  This color is not what I thought it would be, but in a good way.  It isn't quite as sparkly-shiny as Zoya Tiffany, but it has such a unique finish.  It's a blue foil with little gold flecks.  It actually looks like teeny-tiny pieces of gold foil dropped onto the top.  My friend had to ask if I had layered a few nail polishes to get this color, but it's not.  It's looks like a manicure with effort, but really it's just a normal nail polish. And, it didn't bubble! Zoya usually bubbles on me, and this one didn't! It's a good sign, I think.

What's your favorite nail polish finish? Foil, frost, creme, sheer, etc?

Zoya Nail Polish Exchange, Take 2!

Earth day has come and gone yet again, as well as the Zoya nail polish exchange. It was one of my first posts on this blog, and here I am with more Zoya nail polishes, and less crappy/dried out/ used up ones!

Nail polishes I'm shipping away: Beauty Secrets Top Coat, Revlon base coat, Chameleon nail polish, China Glaze nail polish, Olay nail polish, Sally Hansen nail polish.

 Gemma, Crystal, and Harley

Dharma, Kissy, Kimmy

Gemma. Gemma is an army green with a very visible violet/indigo flash.  It's not quite a duochrome, because the different colors have different textures to them, and the purple shows only when the light hits it.  I love that the purple actually shows up in the nail swatch, rather than just in the bottle.  This is 3 coats, I believe.

Crystal. Ugh, how stunning is that? I've been pining over this nail polish for over a year, now, and I didn't get it at the last exchange, only because I was concerned that it would look like OPI Absolutely Alice. It doesn't, don't worry! Though, this polish is a dupe for the rare Reflecting Pool by OPI.  Crystal is a smokey teal-blue base with little golden flecks in it.  These flecks look like little tiny bits of golden foil dropped into the polish. It's so stunning, and I'm sure I will wear this very soon! I think that this was 3 coats as well.

Harley. Haha, those two pictures look like completely different polishes. They're the same, trust me! It's a touch darker than the bottle picture, and quite a bit lighter than the nail swatch.  So, I don't believe that you can really see in these pictures, but this polish has kind of a frosty finish, but more so, it has fun little non-shiny particles in it.  Looks almost like broken glass; very pretty.  Anyway, this is 3 coats, I believe, and it's a perfect light grey for me.

Dharma.  A light milky pink with blue flash/duochrome.  This color is super sheer, but it is buildable.  I believe that this is about 4 or 5 coats.  It's so delicate looking and gorgeous. I can't wait to see how annoyed it makes me, given it's sheerness.

Kissy. I've been itching to get this nail polish forever too. Ever since it came out, I've just thought I have to have that one.  And I finally got it! What's unique about this polish, is that it's a bar glitter, rather than normal hexagonal or circular glitter.  It's a dark magenta-pink with holographic glitter throughout, all bar shaped, in a clear base.  This was about 4 coats, and it fully opaque. You can see in the nail swatch that this definitely needs a topcoat, because it has a rather textural look to it, but it's not that bad, actually. Not super gritty. This color certainly does not disapoint, and I'm can't wait to wear it!

Kimmy. The most opaque out of all of these nail polishes, opaque in only 2 coats.  I'm wearing it on my toes right now, and I love it.  It's a bright, vibrant, tomato red with lots of golden flecks in it that gives it almost a orange look. Perfect color for summer, and it didn't bubble on me! Gosh, I hope my Zoyas stop doing that... This seems like a good sign. :)

So, I'll have nail of the day posts on all of these eventually, and I hope that you enjoy them.  Tell me if you ordered anything from the nail polish exchange or if you're waiting for next year!

Which one is your favorite/should I wear next?

Zoya Richelle

Zoya Richelle from the 2008 Flourish collection.

Stunning gold.  It's a very shiny gold foil and this is about 2 coats, I believe.  Fabulous formula, but once again, I always have problems with Zoya's bubbling on me. Still working on that. This is just about the most amazing pure gold that I've ever seen, and I totally recommend it.

Would you wear it?

Zoya Adina

Zoya Adina from the 2010 Reverie Collection

Stunning. A true duochrome/multichrome. Originally, I thought that this was just a lavender and green duochrome as seen in the bottle of the last picture, but this time I wore it, I noticed that it also has a beautiful fuchsia at extreme angles. This is opaque in 3 coats, but I have extreme problems with bubbling with this nail polish, as well as most of my other Zoyas. I don't think that it's something I'm doing because my other brands are fine, but Zoya bubbles a lot! This is one of my favorite nail polish colors, though, it's a shame that it's so hard for me to get it to work.

Any idea's to avoid Zoya bubbling?
