Blue Skies

Hey Guys! So, someone on Beautylish asked for someone to do a look inspired by this headband...

And of course I volunteered! I'm always game for tutorial requests, and this was such a fun one.  It also made me realize that I do a lot of looks with blue in them, so maybe my next one will have to be based on a different color... Any ideas?

Ugh, the pictures don't do this look justice.  But don't worry! I have a tutorial coming up on it soon! Just been having computer issues... again. Well, always. Luckily, they're always an easy fix.  Anyway, look for that in the close future.

China Glaze Attraction

China Glaze Attraction from the 2012 Magnetix Magnetic nail polish collection.

Magnetic nail polish seems to be the new crackle this year. Except this is so much cooler! Basically, the nail polish has little particles of iron in it that move around when a magnet is placed over it.  This collection has a magnet with the starburst pattern (featured here) as well as diagonal stripes and a chevron pattern.  This color is gorgeous in that is is a dark charcoal with a beautiful silver shimmer and the pattern is a silver .

As for the review, this magnet works pretty quickly, but it doesn't work well for me. I've been experimenting with it, and it seems that my nails are too curved (I have extremely curved nails) to have the pattern anywhere but the middle.  I'm still working with it, but as of now, the design only sort of works. It takes practice, that's for sure.  Luckily, the China Glaze magnetic nail polishes are the most reasonably priced of all of the magnetic polishes that I have seen.  It's priced normally with the normal amount of product. Thumbs up (as seen in photo 3 :).

Essie School of Hard Rocks

Essie School of Hard Rocks from the 2011 Winter Collection (mini size)

The color in this picture is pretty accurate; it's a soft, dusty teal cream with a lot of grey to it, giving it that muted look.  A slightly less vibrant version of  OPI Ski Teal We Drop.  They are actually pretty similar, and I kinda wish that I hadn't bought both, but this one is a mini, so it won't be hard to use up.  I actually only bought this one for the name, and for the dorkiest reason possible.  You won't be able to guess, it's that bad.  Okay *sigh*... There's a Pokemon episode called School of Hard Knocks, because a lot of Pokemon episodes are based off of other sayings, and the like.  Yes. I'm a nerd. And proud of it! Erm, little bit of a tangent there.  This color is nice, completely opaque in 2 or 3 coats, don't remember, though.  It's a little bit watery, but not bad, and it does benefit from a topcoat.  But I do like the color, and it's a little bit of a chameleon too, changing from greyish to blueish to greenish.  Really gorgeous, but not super unique.

Face Up to It: Hard Candy Glamoflauge

Review time! So, I don't think that I have expressed this on this blog yet, but my biggest insecurity is my skin.  It's acne prone and combination, so it can look shiny in a place that my skin is also peeling in. Not cute.  So I am always looking for products to try to better the appearance of my skin. I had heard that this particular product can cover up tattoos, so at $6, I was willing to give it a go:

Hard Candy Glamoflauge

Okay, so as you can see, the product comes in a .71 oz squeezy tube, with a narrow nozzle for the tip.  This is my favorite type of packaging for liquid face products, because you don't waste any product.  In addition, it also comes with a very miniature, about 2 inches or so long, concealer pencil.  This works fine, but I actually prefer it for use on my waterline to open up the eye. It works very well for that.

Okay, as for the squeezy tube part... It's okay.  I'm not sure that I would say that it can cover all that much, because it doesn't even cover up all of my acne scarring.  It has a rather thick consistency, and can increase the appearance in dry, flaky skin.  I put it on, and most of it is invisible, but when I put on my powder, a lot of it wipes away.  And it has to be set with something, because the color has an odd green tint to it.  Oh, major downside: there's only 3 colors (that I know of.) Luckily, this one is really close to mine skin, if my skin were greenish, but most people will be out of luck when using this product.  So, it's very buildable, but if you want that intense coverage, you would have to deal with a very uneven skintone, which sort of defeats the purpose.

All and all, I do sort of recommend it, because it does have higher coverage than most, but you have to  be willing to experiment with it a little to get the color to work for you.  Like use a very pigmented setting powder, because you can't use this product under your foundation and expect it to stay put.  Unfortunately, you probably won't be able to buy it, because you won't have a good color match. I may do a video review to follow.

Would you wear a concealer that doesn't match your skin to hide hyper-pigmentation?
