Revlon Colorstay Topcoat

Simple easy review.

Revlon Colorstay topcoat.  This has been a relatively popular topcoat as of late, and so I decided to give it a try, since I haven't found that holy grail topcoat yet.  When I first applied it, I really liked it.  It's relatively thin and the brush is good, so it's easy to apply.  Additionally, it doesn't chip, tip wear isn't that bad and it stays glossy.  Sounds perfect right?

Wrong! When I first wore it, I noticed something really weird. Something that had never happened to me before.  My nail polish got weird little cracks in it. Little tiny fault lines all over the place.  At first, I had no idea what it was from, but then after wearing the top coat a few times, I realized that it was the topcoat.  It makes my nail polish crack! And look kind of terrible. And I have no idea how ti fix it.  I'll post a picture of this weird... thing when I get the chance.

Anyway, I don't recommend this top coat at all. I've heard only good things about it, but this is way too weird to recommend at all.

Has your nail polish ever cracked?

DIY Bow Dress

I've never done a post like this before, guys, but I thought that maybe some of you would like it.  DIY projects are always fun!

So I bought this dress (which shrunk and turned into a tunic) a while ago from Forever 21.  It has this keyhole on the back, and I thought that a big, black, satiny bow on the back would spruce it up a bit.

I didn't have one at home, so I had to go to Hancock Fabrics and measure out a bit of ribbon and buy it. I think that it was a bout 2 feet, but don't quote me on that. It wasn't too expensive either.

The ends were very frayed so to fix that, you just hem it.  Easiest sewing a person can do; anyone can do it.

Tada!

I like floppy bows where the loops are really big. Just tie the bow however you like, and then sew the middle so that it doesn't come undone. Unless you want it to, of course.

Then you just sew it on the back

And then you add a black background, because your house is a mess when you take the picture.  I know that you can't see the bow here... But I didn't have another picture, and I didn't feel like taking one!

I hope that maybe this post gave you some easy ideas for fixing up a shirt or a dress that maybe you've gotten a little bored of. I absolutely love this dress/tunic, and I get so many complements on the bow every time I where it.  Plus, it makes me feel creative.  Anyone can do this sort of project; you don't even really need to know how to sew because it's just that easy.

Would you do this?

1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
It's a little wavy on the top layer, but the bottom layer is pretty much stick straight.  It curls when it's shorter, though.
2. What is your natural hair color?
Dark brown.  People always call it black, but it's definitely not!

I've never dyed my hair. I would go to a salon, though, especially since I would have to bleach my hair to do anything with it.

4. How often do you wash your hair?
I wash my hair every other day.  Sometimes I use leave-in conditioner.

5. Do you wear the same hair style everyday, or do you change it?
I do nothing to my hair, every day. Always down and nothing. I don't even brush it.

My Own Little Corner

Another Disney look! This one is Cinderella.  And, horror of horrors, I actually made a video for it. Yeah. Unbelievable, huh?

I'm wondering if maybe I should do a series on how to wear unwearable colors on your eyes in a way that's flattering. Colors like pink, red, yellow, orange, frosty blue, etc.  Because I think that the yellow here really works!  Tell me what you think about that.

I know that the quality on this photo is really weird, but I kind of like it!

And as opposed to the last look that I posted, here is a picture of
my face with the camera that doesn't make me look weird! Yay!

Eyes:
  • Too Faced Shadow Insurance
  •  Urban Decay cream eyeshadow in Moonshine
  • Wet 'n Wild Blue Had Me at Hello palette
  • Inglot 60 AMC
  • NYC face primer (to help the glitter stick)
  • LA Splash Gaudy glitter
  • Elf black liquid eyeliner
  • Wet 'n Wild white pencil eyeliner
  • Coastal Scents 88 Metal Mania palette
  • Coastal Scents 88 Warm palette
  • Urban Decay Binge eyeliner
  • Revlon Photoready 3D mascara

Cheeks:
  • Cover Girl Natural Rose blush
  • Benefit Hoola Bronzer
  • Benefit High Beam highlighter

Lips:
  • Revlon Candy Pink lipstick
  • MAC She-Zam Dazzleglass

Can I just take a moment to say how bad this one look was for my eyes? I tried it once on my left eye, didn't work out, so I had to take it off and fix my face. That didn't make my eye happy. But then the successful look! I had eyeliner all over my inner tear duct for the whole video! Poor eyes.

Well, I hope that you guys liked this look more than my eyes did. I was actually really happy to do a video again... I didn't realize that I missed it.  I really hope to continue making videos, whether it's makeup, or singing, or something else.  Anyway, what Disney character do you think that I should do next? I'm thinking maybe Mulan? I've had an idea for her for a while... So we'll see.

Wet 'n Wild Born Into Privilege

Wet 'n Wild Born Into Privilege from the Spring 2012 Coloricon Be Jeweled collection.
Sorry, I could not get an accurate color photo for the bottle.

The next two pictures are Born Into Privilege layered over black.

It's more vibrant, though.

Duochrome glitter! What in the world could be better? I believe that this collection retailed for about $3 at CVS, but also keep in mind that the bottle is as small as it looks; only 0.30 fl oz as opposed to the usual 0.50 fl oz that nail polish bottles usually are.

Born into Privilege is mostly a greenish-golden color.  Since it's a duochrome, though, it has a number of other colors in it.  Some teal at extreme angles, But mostly green and gold. Sometimes silver.  It's mostly that color glitter but then also has some larger hexagonal multicolored glitters too. Looks like a party on your nails.

Let's talk for a minute about the formula.  The formula is okay; perhaps a little thick. It could benefit from some thinner if you plan on layering it over black.  The brush, though, is terrible.  It's very big, rather fluffy, gets clumps of glitter on it, and is not smooth, rather, it's kind of frayed.  It definitely makes application a lot harder.

Overall, I like the color, the shift really isn't that prominent, the brush is crappy, and the nail polish is averagely priced.  If you want to try the color, go ahead, but the whole collection isn't as groundbreaking as it sounds.
